My yoga training & teaching experience

I started teaching yoga in December 2021 at Anytime Fitness Dorchester as a student teacher whilst completing my first 200 hour teacher training with Yoga London. Due to circumstances outside of my control, Yoga London closed down before our class graduated which meant I didn’t receive my qualification and had to start my training from scratch. The teachers and students I met during my time at Yoga London ignited my passion for yoga and will be something I am forever grateful for. I studied online to gain my qualification through Your Yoga Flow and graduated in March 2022.

In the summer of 2022 I started teaching yoga classes in the parks of Dorchester, alongside the classes I was teaching at Anytime Fitness. It was that summer that Space Yoga was born…yoga had given me so much space! Space to breathe, space to move and space to grow…and I wanted to share that new found sense of freedom with my students.

In 2023 I embarked on a 300 hour advanced teacher training. This involved 150 hours of online content and 150 hours of in person training in Koh Phangan, Thailand. This was the first intensive training I had embarked on (21 days of yoga!) and it was a transformative experience. The teachers I studied with were incredibly knowledgable, kind and generous. The course participants became lifelong friends.

In November 2024 I studied with the wonderful Norman Blair, a 5 day introduction to Yin Yoga. My main memory from the week was that I didn’t know it was possible to feel that relaxed and at peace. It was after this course that I knew for sure that yoga and meditation would be part of my life forever. I have signed up to study with Norman again in September 2026 - a nine day advanced yin training course.

In May 2025 I enrolled in Jason Crandell’s Pranayama and Breathwork online training and will finish this in May 2026. This course has given me the ability to teach breathwork confidently in my yoga classes as well as understand the science behind why breathing well is so important.

Alongside the weekly classes I teach, I also run monthly social events like Yoga and Coffee and Yoga and Brunch at The King’s Arms and regular workshops. Collaborating with local wellness practitioners including Dan Fellows and Owen Lister to run day retreats is a fun and rewarding aspect of my job!

Yoga has given me so much. An incredible community, confidence, acceptance, self compassion, love, awareness and wisdom. Yoga is for everyone - it may take some time to find the style, teacher or environment that is right for you, but when you do, I promise you it has the potential to transform your life forever. Sharing the practice of yoga brings me so much joy and I continue to learn and grow every day.

Thank you for being here & I hope to have the honour of practising with you.
