Yoga basics: Find your roots
Sunday, 2nd February 2-5pm
Explore foundational standing poses in yoga asana practice. Perfect for beginners or anyone who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of standing poses and the effects they will have on the body. Standing poses are the foundation for a strong yoga practice and essential for building the strength and flexibility required for seated postures. If we want to grow in our practice we must ensure our roots are strong and steady. Receive individual guidance and hands on adjustments where appropriate and learn how props can help us find more space. The workshop will end with some reclining poses to stretch followed by a body scan mediation and deep relaxation.
Yoga for runners
Sunday, 9th March 2-5pm
Do you love running, but not sure how to stretch efficiently? This workshop is for you! Running is amazing for our physical and mental health. It helps strengthen our heart and lungs, builds resilience and connects us with a friendly community! In order to feel our best when running we need to know how to stretch effectively! This workshop will explore poses to help runners stay flexible and strong so you can keep doing the thing you love with reduced chance of injury.
Inversions
Sunday, 13th April 2-5pm
Are you interested in learning how to practise shoulder stand, headstand and handstand safely? Inversions are an important part of advancing our yoga practice and there are many benefits to practising inversions regularly. These poses require strength, flexibility and balance. Learn techniques, tips and tricks to help you work towards these poses. There will also be the opportunity to learn different variations and entry points into the poses if you are already confident in practising away from the wall. Everyone welcome, but to get the most out of this workshop being able to hold a plank pose and downward dog for at least a minute will be helpful.
The art of finding balance
Sunday, 6th July 2-5pm
Balance is a key element of yoga practice and there are many poses which challenge our balance in different ways. In this workshop we will explore some useful techniques to help improve balance including breath, drishti and bandhas. We will also learn how the mind plays an essential role in our ability to balance and how we can calm the mind using meditation techniques and visualisation. Advance your balance practice with individual guidance and hands on adjustments where appropriate. Lots of different balancing poses will be offered so everyone can work at their own level and pace.
Advance your backbends
Sunday, 17th August 2-5pm
It requires time, patience and consistency to build a strong, healthy and flexible spine. In this workshop we will work towards more advanced back bending poses including wheel pose, camel pose, wild thing, dancer's pose and king pigeon pose. You do not need to be able to do any of those poses in order to attend the workshop as we will be working on plenty of other poses to help open the body up for these advanced asanas. Individual guidance will be given including hands on adjustments where appropriate and you will learn how props can be used to deepen our experience of a pose or provide more support. This workshop is not suitable for anyone who has a spinal injury or condition that means you can't extend your spine. Drop me a message if you are unsure and we can discuss it.
Back to basics: Sun salutations
Sunday, 14th September 2-5pm
Sun salutations are an integral part of many styles of yoga including Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga Vinyasa and many other Hatha classes. In this workshop we will breakdown the flow, looking at individual postures and how these poses can be adapted to suit each individual. Receive individual guidance and hands on adjustments where appropriate to help you find the correct alignment for you. Sun salutations are a brilliant way to start a self practice and we will also cover how you can become more consistent with practising outside a class environment. Suitable for beginners and those wishing to learn how to flow like a pro!
Arm balancing basics
Sunday, 12th October 2-5pm
Arm balances allow us to find joy and playfulness in our practice! YES, we will fall. YES, we will fail. YES, we will get back up and have another go! In my experience, arm balancing shows us how what was once impossible can become possible. Let's take a fun, supportive and compassionate approach to arm balancing rather than comparing or competing against others. We will explore poses including bakasana (crow pose), side crow, flying pigeon & baby grasshopper. In addition, we will cover important strength building tools and exercises to gain confidence in working towards these poses.
Journey to splits
Sunday, 16th November 2-5pm
Hanumunasana or splits pose is an advanced asana that requires time, patience and consistency. In this workshop we will break down the pose and explore the different muscles required to enter splits safely and with ease. Strength is as important as flexibility so we will work on building active flexibility and increasing our range of movement. This workshop is suitable for anyone wishing to work on splits pose and there will be plenty of options given so everyone can work at their own level. Receive individual guidance on how to advance your practice, hands on adjustments where appropriate and learn how props can provide support or deepen the intensity within poses.
Level up your inversions
Sunday, 14th December 2-5pm
Are you comfortable holding a headstand away from the wall? Do you want to know how to level up your inversions practice? This workshop is for you! We will explore variations of headstand including different leg shapes and entry points. Try coming into the pose from a wide legged forward fold or from sphinx pose. Explore tripod headstand and how to come into it from crow pose arm balance. In addition we will work towards forearm balance, scorpion and free standing handstands. I can't wait to share this with you!
