Yin Yoga
Take a deep dive into the powerful practice of yin. Hold floor based poses for 2-5 minutes whilst mindfully listening to the sensations in the body.
Yin Yoga is a practice that is becoming more and more popular. In a world where we are constantly on the go and there is little space given to stillness, this practice honestly is transformative!
I fell in love with Yin Yoga because of the feeling of complete peace and wholeness I felt after doing the class. I can't describe how much of an impact this has had on my life and I truly believe you have to try it to understand.
This is a practice where we hold poses for 2-5 minutes to target the deep tissues in the body. There are 3 principles in Yin Yoga.
1: Find your edge.
2: Commit to stillness.
3: Allow time to pass.
This practice is beautifully simple, but simple does not mean easy. For many of us, being still for extended periods of time can be extremely challenging. It forces us to face uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and physical sensations. Learning to do this in our yoga practice can help us to become less reactive and more responsive in our daily lives.
As you can probably tell, I love Yin! It can be a wonderful addition to your current fitness routine, particularly if you do a lot of yang fitness (Vinyasa Flow yoga, running, weight lifting, cycling).
